About this space
This cozy, bright watertower in the Cider Creek Collective artist community is stocked with original art and handmade pots for use during your stay. Enjoy one of the oldest Victorian homesteads on the coast, with a four acre meadow, gardens, heirloom orchards, hiking out the door through giant redwoods and Pygmy forest, and a short drive to the ocean and the historic village of Mendocino. Clawfoot tub, gas fireplace, outdoor shower, private deck, and pottery classes available onsite!
The space
The property is 6 acres, nestled into the curve of Cider Creek, tucked deep in the redwoods behind the houses. The watertower’s interior space is bright, colorful, full of art, and uniquely laid out due to the original supporting beams and pillars dominating the living room and kitchen. Watch your heads as you move from room to room!! The watertower pillars are right across doorways so guests need to watch their heads! The cottage has lots of windows but total privacy.
Guest access
Guests in the watertower have ample private deck and outdoor space around the building, and kids (and adults!) are welcome to stroll and play in the meadow. A path out the back door leads to the owners’ yellow Victorian and the artist residency facilities.
Guests are asked to remain outside the fence surrounding the main house, to preserve owners’ privacy unless you’re having an emergency and can’t reach us via text. If you’d like to take a pottery class during your stay, contact us via the VRBO app to inquire. We’re also happy to tour you by request through our studio and kilns, where you can watch artists at work and purchase the kind of pottery that’s n the watertower kitchen for your use while you’re here. If you’d like to go walking or hiking in the neighborhood, message us and we’ll be happy to show you how to access trails directly from the perimeter of the property.

We have two big friendly dogs, a Pyrenees named Nami and a husky mix named Scout. They’re usually outside and they love visitors and kids, so they may greet you as you come and go. PLEASE CLOSE GATES TIGHTLY to keep them inside the fence and safe, or else they will follow their noses and wander away. They keep Cider Creek’s people, kitties, gardens, and the surrounding neighborhood safe with their watchfulness, so thank you for your patience with occasional barking. Please do not feed them.
